Proudian Antiques Ltd., specializing in fine 19th and 20th century antiques, is located at New Rochelle, N.Y. 10804 in Westchester County.

From Proudian: "For more than 40 years now, Proudian Antiques Ltd. has been dealing in the finest nineteenth and twentieth-century antiques. Their areas of expertise include fine handmade Oriental Rugs and tapestries, American and European paintings, drawings and sculpture, as well as decorative arts and furnishings, art glass, fine and antique jewelry, and quality collections or entire estates.

"In the late 1950's and early 1960's, Ara Proudian, the proprietor of Proudian Antiques Ltd., quickly established himself as an expert in the area of fine handmade Oriental Rugs. For the most part, Mr. Proudian was buying and selling from high net worth individuals throughout the tri-state area. It was during these dealings, that Mr. Proudian became exposed to other antiques and fine works of art.

"While continuing to deal in the Oriental Rug markets, Mr. Proudian learned more about the vast world of antiques. Soon, he was not only trading in rugs, but other items of significant artistic value. He became particularly knowlegable in both American and European paintings and sculpture, buying and selling works of many familiar artists, which included L.W. Prentice, M.F DeHaas, J.C Leyendecker, A. Barye, P.J. Mene, B.P. Vonnoh, and many other prominent names.

"Mr. Proudian did not limit his dealings, or his education to paintings and sculpture. He became an avid dealer in art glass, more specifically Tiffany Studios & Co., in addition to Lalique, and many of the Ohio Pottery makers like Rookwood and Fulper.

"Mr. Proudian continues to be an active dealer in fine antiquities, and in keeping with tradition, Proudian Antiques has added a new generation to its staff. Ara Proudian, the son of Mr. Proudian, has joined the firm, bringing his own expertise to the firm. He too, is an avid collector and dealer, with an extensive knowledge of both the New Hope School and Old Lyme Colonies of art."
